Rules and safety

Rules and Safety

The event will be held in accordance with SvømDanmark’s rules for open water events.

Rules and Safety

Participation is at the swimmers’ own risk and responsibility. Lifeguards and course marshals will be stationed along the entire route, and medics will be present on land at the finish area.

Wetsuits are mandatory when the water temperature is below 16°C. However, for safety reasons, the organisers recommend that all participants wear a wetsuit regardless of the water temperature. Wetsuits are required for all participants under the age of 18.

For safety reasons, the organisers reserve the right to remove participants from the water using escort boats or lifeguards if they are deemed unable to complete the course or are not expected to reach the finish line within the event’s time limit.

All participants must visibly wear the official swim cap provided, as well as any issued safety buoy (havtaske), if applicable.

Insurance and cancellation

Insurance

Please note that you participate at your own expense and risk.
We therefore strongly recommend that you ensure you have adequate insurance coverage before the start of the race. This includes liability insurance, theft insurance, and personal accident insurance for leisure activities.

When registering, you have the option to purchase a cancellation insurance policy through Sportstiming.

In Case of Cancellation

For the safety of all participants, SvømDanmark may be required to cancel the event in the case of poor water quality. We work closely and continuously with the City of Copenhagen’s Department of Technical and Environmental Services, and the event will only go ahead if water quality is deemed acceptable.

Please note that the start times for each heat are indicative and may be subject to change.
